The directions assume that you can make your way using commercial maps to the New York State Thruway to either exit 31 or 33 (depending on which way you are approaching us). Rome is located almost directly in the geographic center of New York (see NYS Map).

Directions Travelling East on NYS Thruway

Take the New York State Thruway eastbound (toward Albany) to Exit #33 (Verona).

After exiting, bear right onto Route 365 East to Rome. Continue on Route 365 (approx.10 miles) into Rome until you see the overhead exit sign for “Downtown Rome” which will be a left-hand curve. Continue for approximately 1-1/2 miles where, after 2 traffic lights, the “exit ramp” ends.

Proceed straight ahead to the intersection (and another traffic light). Stay in the right-hand lane to make a right-hand turn at this intersection onto James St. Drive 3 blocks and at Court St. (domed court house on the right), make a left-hand turn onto Court St. and drive 4-1/2 blocks to Varflex located at 512 West Court Street.

The office is the single-story building (with ivy growing on the stone front) halfway up the block on the right side.

Directions Travelling West on NYS Thruway from Albany

Take the New York State Thruway westbound (toward Buffalo) to Exit #31 (Utica).

After exiting the toll plaza, bear right and proceed to the first intersection, Genesee St. Turn right onto Genesee St., staying in the right-hand lane, and at the 1st traffic light you will see a small sign for Rome. Turn right and, after a very short distance, turn right again onto the arterial. The arterial is well marked to direct you (after shortly running parallel with the Thruway) to Route 49, the main highway to Rome.

When you reach Route 49, make a left-hand turn onto Route 49 West. Continue on Route 49 for approximately 12-1/2 miles, at which point you will see the overhead exit sign for “Downtown Rome” which will be a right-hand curve. Continue for approximately 1-1/2 miles where, after 2 traffic lights, the “exit ramp” ends.
